Our next events we are planning are:
Darley Abbey Scouts will be holding their annual Field Day on Deans Field, Darley Abbey, DE22 1DX. (In the event of bad weather the event will be held in the Scouts Hall, off New Road, Darley Abbey, DE22 1DT.)
This year, for the first time ever, the Scouts are very excited to welcome BB Falconry along to the event. BB Falconry will be bringing along a display of their birds of prey and during the afternoon will be running two flying demonstrations.
We have a fantastic day in store for you this year. In the middle of Dean’s Field we have an Arena where, this year, we will be having two flying falconry displays at approx. 12 noon and at 2.30-3.00 p.m. A few lucky spectators will have the chance to hold the birds themselves! There will be a static display of 6 or 7 birds all day so you can go and look at them and talk to their handlers. In-between the displays there will be our famous Tug-o-war run by the Scout Leaders.
We also will be having a Blood Bike and a Model T Ford vintage car on show. Our Community Police will have a stand and will be marking bikes with postcodes.
New for this year is a cake decorating competition, with two child categories (one for under 11s and one 12-18 years) and an adult category. Entry will be £1 each and you can choose to donate your cake for sale. You can decorate either a sponge cake or 6 cup-cakes (you don’t even have to cook a cake, just decorate it.) Two ladies from the Darley Abbey WI will be doing the judging.

Plus, there will be lots of stalls including the ever popular Smash-a-plate, Coconut Shy, Skittles, Poopla and Tombola. There will also be a raffle with lots of fabulous prize up for grabs!
You can also bring your bike along for postcode marking by the Community Police.
There will be delicious food on offer from the BBQ and tea tent as well as fresh popcorn.
With all this going on there sure to be something for everyone and we hope to see you there!
