Open Day Celebration -10 Nov 18

10th November 2018 by helensnape

We have had a fantastic day today sharing all that the Hall has to offer with you.

We had displays on the history of the group, what scouting does, our hall management committee display, and how you can help us. Fund raising, and Community Links information in the centre of the Hall.

It has been great to see all of you today, and thankyou for supporting us.

Did you hear Neil Roberts on BBC Radio Derby this morning talking about Scouts and Hall Fundraising? He did an amazing job! If you didn’t hear it live you can listen to it here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06p2lgy
Neil is on at 2h15m

Cubs Wild Flower Walk

20th June 2017 by neilroberts

What a great summer evening on the nature reserve. We found beetles, common flowers, and rare orchids (4 species!)… ooh and quite a few wild, almost feral Cubs 🙂

Thank you Peter Hill for your expert guidance on the evening.  Peter helps to manage the reserve and is the reserve wild flower expert.

erm another orchid…. I think this was the southern marsh orchid. very rare but the nature reserve has 4. practically impossible to find unless you know where to look.
Thanks Peter for your expert guidance on the reserve. The cubs really picked up on your enthusiasm. We found poisonous hemlock and edible daisies….
its an Orchid! rare .. but called the Common Orchid.. absolutely stunning- my favorite flower on the reserve.
Anyone know what this beetle is? Our resident entomologist cub found it.
We learnt the large white Daisy type flowers are edible… good for salads. Can you spot the teasels…? good for Baloo to comb his hair with
The reserve is an absolute riot of flowers in June
Wild Cubs on a Wild Flower nature Walk! 19th June
Wild Flower Walk… there is only 1 bench on the reserve. 19th June 2017

The tea and coffee were moved to the John Bentley room along with the Tommy Silhouette. The Blood bike arrived and the local […]
