Thanks to the Co-op and their customers

18th May 2019 by helensnape

Dave (Manager, Co-op on Duffield Road and Sue Tyrer (Chair, Fund-raising sub-Committee) with the cheque showing the total funds raised by this Co-op (together with the one at Park Farm Centre) and all their customers for our Scout Group as a Local Cause in the Community 2017/2018.
The second picture is of Kurtis (Manager, Co-op Park Farm Centre) and Leaders, Scouts and Exec Committee members from the 63rd Derby (Darley Abbey) Scout Group celebrating

The amount raised was beyond our wildest dreams and will help us to refurbish the kitchen and toilets in our Scouts Hall. We can ‘t thank them enough for their support.

This Co-op (together with the one on Duffield Road) and all their customers raised £6,251.10 for our Scout Group as a Local Cause in the Community 2017/2018.

This amazing total will help us to refurbish the kitchen and toilets in our Scouts Hall.

Open Day Celebration -10 Nov 18

10th November 2018 by helensnape

We have had a fantastic day today sharing all that the Hall has to offer with you.

We had displays on the history of the group, what scouting does, our hall management committee display, and how you can help us. Fund raising, and Community Links information in the centre of the Hall.

It has been great to see all of you today, and thankyou for supporting us.

Did you hear Neil Roberts on BBC Radio Derby this morning talking about Scouts and Hall Fundraising? He did an amazing job! If you didn’t hear it live you can listen to it here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06p2lgy

We are one of the Co-op’s Local Causes in the Community for 2017/ 2018

8th December 2017 by helensnape

The Co-op is currently supporting 4,000 causes across the UK.  Our project to upgrade the kitchen and toilets in the Hall was submitted in August and we have just heard we have been successful!

As they say … Just by choosing to buy from Co-op, our members are helping local causes. When you shop with us, you can enjoy your Christmas food while giving back to your local community. As a member, every time you buy own brand food you’ll earn 5% for you and, 1% of what you spend goes to a local cause. The more you spend, the more money goes to causes in your area.

The Co-op Local Community Fund is now open for members to choose and give their 1% to 63rd Darley Abbey Scouts. This funding period runs up until 27th October 2018.

If you are a member of the Co-op (you have their loyalty card), please show your support by nominating the 63rd Darley Abbey Scouts at

https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/16181/

(and if you’re not a member and shop at the Co-op, however infrequently, please join so you can start supporting us too!)

Visit www.coop.co.uk/register to sign up to their membership scheme.

Polish a pew – 20th June 2017

29th June 2017 by helensnape

To complete part of the faith activity badge the 63rd Derby North Darley Abbey Beavers visited St Mathews Church in Darley Abbey to learn about how it fits in the community.  We decided to include a sponsored clean as this covered the Beavers doing their best and helping in the community. The money raised will go towards the 63rd Derby Darley Abbey Scout Group Hall fund as we are in the process of purchasing it. Thanks go out to the church warden David Brierley for letting us carry out the clean.

The beavers raised an amazing £268.50, thanks goes to all who took part, and all those that supported them with the sponsorship monies.

Please see our Facebook page for further pictures of our efforts.

Field Day 2019 by our roving Scout Reporter Alex

8th August 2019 By suetyrer

Persistent rain meant that the field day had to be in the hall instead of on Deans Field as planned. Everyone pulled together getting everything ready for the 11 am opening time. The tea and coffee were moved to the John Bentley room along with the Tommy Silhouette. The Blood bike arrived and the local […]
